David G. Blumenkrantz, PhD, EdM, LADC

David G. Blumenkrantz, PhD, EdM, LADC, has served in a variety of roles in youth work, education and community development since 1966. He is the recipient of the Connecticut Youth Services Association Lifetime Achievement Award (1995) and Program of the Year Award for the Rite Of Passage Experience©, ROPE® (1989). Dr. Blumenkrantz is the co-founder and Executive Director of the Center for Youth & Community, Inc. With over 35 years of intensive focus on initiation and rites of passage, Dr. Blumenkrantz’s scholarship and practice are chronicled in numerous professional publication and syndicated on the web and provide the foundation for the emerging field known as “youth and community development through rites of passage.” Two websites feature his work, including the three volume, 5th edition Guide for Promoting Youth & Community Development through Rites of Passage. Dr. Blumenkrantz’s recently published book, Coming of Age the RITE Way: Youth & Community Development through Rites of Passage, published by Oxford University Press, has been hailed as “groundbreaking, thought-provoking, providing profound wisdom, healing and a gift to future generations.” Dr. Blumenkrantz lives in Glastonbury, CT with his family.
